I finally pulled the trigger and bought the harrington jacket in navy from Jeffery Green a few weeks ago. £150 seemed a bit steep at first, but I’ve been wearing it non-stop and I think it was worth it.
It’s made from 100% cotton in their London factory. The navy colour is deep and even – proper yarn dyed so it doesn’t look patchy or fade after washing. That was one of the first things I noticed when it arrived.
The jacket has the usual Harrington jacket look but they’ve made the cuffs open instead of tight elastic. I actually prefer that. It feels less dated and more normal for everyday wear. There’s still elastic at the waist though, which keeps the bottom sitting tight so the jacket doesn’t fly around when it’s windy.
The zip has a small Jeffery Green tag on the puller. Nothing loud, but it feels better quality than the cheap zips you get on a lot of jackets these days.
Why I Keep Reaching for the Navy One
Navy is just useful. I can wear this jacket with a plain t-shirt and jeans when I’m running errands. It still looks clean. If I’m going somewhere a bit smarter, I stick a polo or shirt underneath and it works straight away without looking overdressed.
The cotton is breathable so I don’t get too hot walking around. On colder days I can easily put a jumper on underneath and the elastic waist keeps the whole thing looking neat instead of bulky.
I’ve worn it in light rain a few times. It’s not waterproof, but it handles normal British drizzle fine. The navy colour also hides any small splashes or marks better than beige or green would.
Fit and Comfort
I measured my chest like they said on the site and ordered my usual size. It fits well. There’s decent room across the shoulders so I can move my arms without feeling restricted. The length is good – it sits right at the waist, not too cropped and not too long.
Even after several washes and wears, it maintains its form. The material is durable but still soft and comfortable, not rigid.
How I’ve Been Wearing It
Most days it’s simple: this navy Harrington jacket over a t-shirt or polo with jeans and trainers. Takes me 30 seconds to get ready.
At the weekend I’ve worn it with a grey jumper and boots. Looks relaxed but still tidy.
A couple of times I’ve put a white button-down shirt underneath and gone out for food with mates. The open cuffs let the shirt sleeves show a little and it actually looks quite smart.
It’s the jacket I rely on most. If I’m stuck choosing, I just wear this.
Made in London
Jeffery Green make this jacket themselves in their factory in London. That’s one of the reasons I went for it. You can tell they’ve spent time on the details – the stitching is neat, the fabric has good weight, and it doesn’t feel cheap when you pick it up.
Washing and Care
I wash it on cool and hang it to dry. I don’t use the hot dryer because I want the waist elastic to stay firm. So far the navy colour is holding up well and there’s no shrinking or shape loss. Easy to look after.
Who Is This Jacket For?
If you want a jacket you can wear nearly every day without it looking tired after a month, this navy one is a good option. It works for normal everyday life – work, weekends, going out, whatever.
The navy makes it the safest and most useful colour they sell. It just goes with most things.
Final Thoughts
After wearing the harrington jacket in navy from Jeffery Green for a few weeks, I can say it’s a proper solid jacket. Comfortable 100% cotton, practical navy colour, open cuffs that feel modern, and made in their London factory.
At £150 it’s not the cheapest, but you’re getting something that actually gets used a lot instead of sitting in the wardrobe.
